Without complete transparency, VAR will continue to be controversial. I agree with my team Wolves objecting to what is going on. After all, poor decisions cost us dearly this season and have completely denied us the opportunity to qualify for any European competition. Without access to Europe clubs of our size will continue to be in a poor competitive position to attract the type of players that will give us a fair crack at consistently competing in the top half of the table.

VAR is just a replay. The problem is VAR, or maybe even the match referee, actively trying to avoid difficult decisions. As an example: Doku kicking Macallister in the chest. Post-match, Howard Web and Owen "analyze" the VAR audio, wherein they say that "both went in high" and "it hit Dokus boot first", which you can clearly see in the replay dont happen. This is an attempt of Michael Olivier to pass the blame/outrage of a difficult call, to the VAR room. And VAR was also afraid, and had to rewrite reality to justify not taking action. I think the referees and VAR are afraid of making hard calls. They try to avoid things that impact title candidates/fan favourites, due to the fan and media frenzy that appear afterwards. If VAR is to be fair, then the VAR operator should not know which teams or players they are judging. The players in the replay should be "cloaked" for VAR. That's the only way to avoid biases or associated fears that the VAR operators have towards teams/players.

Technology is not the problem......The use is the problem....semi automated offside is way better than that line they keep drawing......penalties.....referees should go to the screen......goal line is perfect.....so what else

What exactly is included in var? Is it all technology in the game (goal line tech, etc) Also if they get rid of var in the prem, they will still have it in the champions league. Could it potentially put English clubs at a disadvantage not being used to playing with var in the future?

While I don't like VAR much, I liked the diving epidemic a lot less. It is creeping back in a little with manufactured fouls that look bad on VAR, but that's something that can be improved. The Appeal system would add drama, but obviously won't solve every issue. Truth be told, I think it's a matter of giving them time to get it right. It's hard to expect them to be experts at implementing and using it as it's a new technology. Anyone there has a maximum of 4 years experience, with literally nobody senior to counsel them. The real question is, do we want to suffer through a rubbish preriod of learning, or just get on with how rubbish it was before.

Scrap it. They can use AI for offside and the rest is down to the ref. Goal line tech obv. Never mind the captain sayinv he shoved him etc because then its them looking in slow motion etc . Its our game and id rather argue at home about the ref than argue about the officials that re refereed it . Whats the difference? One is organic and the other robotic with human robots 😂😂😂 that still make the wrong decision. If VAR cant even tell the referee it was a goal and the referee not get the correct message for whatever reason whats the point.? Check complete !! Instead of check complete its a goal.. Human error getting embarrassingly worse with this so-called technology they cannot manage, so drop it until refs evolve, eventually.

The template is already there in rugby. Just implement it properly. Also - use it to correct bad decisions regarding goal kicks/corners, not just for offsides

VAR for offsides only. Penalty incidents can be reviewed on pitchside monitor by the referee, not VAR, to help provide better angles.

Here’s how you fix VAR: - VAR team is independent and specially trained in the technology, and doesn’t work for PGMOL. - VAR has the final say on everything. They have more angles and technology, so why shouldn’t they help the ref when he misses something, even if it’s “only” a yellow? - Get rid of “clear and obvious” - if it’s a mistake, it’s a mistake, end of. - Audio of every decision should be broadcast live, and after the game the full recording should be released with transcripts. - Referees should be obliged to give an interview after a game like managers are. - Actual punishments for referees who make mistakes constantly, starting with docking their wages for each mistake made, going all the way up to demotion to a lower league and then suspension. As for left backs for the Euros, why not Joe Gomez? He’s been excellent for Liverpool there this season, filling in when Robertson and Tsimikas were injured or needed rest.

VAR is good. But they need to have better information on whats going on for the fans. They also need to get rid of the inconsistencys. Its so stupid when a goal is allowed in one game- and its is disallowed in the next one (by VAR- not the onfield ref)

Every player should have a chip in their shirt badge so that offside could be judged purely, with every ball having a chip in it so that it is clear when it gets kicked. VAR could take a rugby approach re yellow/Red cards. You have a goal but it could be called back.... maybe!

VAR isn't the issue, its the PGMOL that are the issue. Harsher punishments on ref's and PGMOL officials are needed when wrong decisions are made. There have been far to many bad decisions this season for what is meant to be the best league in the world. More clarity is needed. Look at rugby with how the entire stadium can hear the ref talking when making a decision.. We desperately need to progress quickly as a league, even as a community (so to speak) if not every season VAR/PGMOL will forever over shadow important factors.
